What is a payment receipt?
A payment receipt confirms that a business received a payment from a customer — it records who received it, who paid it, what it was for, how much, when, and how it was paid. Unlike an invoice, it does not request payment; it acknowledges that a payment already happened.
How to create a payment receipt
- Enter your business (recipient) details.
- Enter the customer (payer) details.
- Add the receipt number, receipt date and payment date.
- Choose the payment method and, if applicable, a reference or transaction number.
- Enter the amount received and what it was for, and mark it full, partial, advance or other.
- Preview the receipt and download it as a PDF.
Full, partial and advance payments
If you also enter a total amount due and any amount previously paid, the receipt shows a running balance due — total due, less what's already been paid, less this payment. Leave those fields blank to simply confirm a single payment on its own, with no balance calculation shown.
Important notes
This tool generates a standard payment receipt document. Selecting a payment method or entering a transaction/reference number does not verify with any bank, UPI provider or payment processor that a transaction actually occurred — that confirmation remains the issuing business's own responsibility. This tool does not perform accounting or payment reconciliation. For complex or disputed transactions, consult your own records or a qualified professional.

What is a payment receipt?
A payment receipt is a document a business gives to a customer confirming that a payment has been received — who paid, how much, when, how, and what it was for. It is not an invoice, and does not itself request payment.
Is this payment receipt generator free?
Yes. Creating, previewing and downloading a payment receipt with this tool is free and does not require an account.
Can I generate a payment receipt without an account?
Yes. You can enter the business, payer and payment details, preview the receipt and download the PDF without signing up. An account is only needed if you choose to save the receipt to Business Software.
What's the difference between full, partial and advance payment?
Full payment means the entire amount for the stated purpose was received. Partial payment means only part of a larger total was received, leaving a balance due. Advance payment means the payment was received ahead of the related work or delivery.
Does entering a transaction or reference number verify the payment?
No. A reference number is recorded on the receipt exactly as entered, for the business's own record-keeping — it does not verify with any bank, UPI provider, or payment processor that the transaction actually took place.
Can I download the receipt as a PDF?
Yes. Once you've entered the receipt details, you can preview it and download a professional A4 PDF.
Does the tool save my receipt data?
No. Your receipt details are used only in your browser and on the server for the moment it takes to generate the PDF — they are not saved to a database or a Business Software account unless you choose a future save workflow.
